The domestic football league local clash involving one local team and Hapoel Tel Aviv was called off before commencement on Sunday, after what police characterized as "civil unrest and violent riots".
"Numerous of smoke grenades and fireworks were set off," authorities posted on online platforms, emphasizing "this is not a football game, it constitutes disorder and major hostilities".
A dozen individuals and several officers were harmed, authorities reported, while nine people were taken into custody and 16 held for interrogation.
The disturbances occur just a short time after authorities in the United Kingdom announced that Maccabi Tel Aviv fans cannot be permitted to go to the international tournament match at the Birmingham team in Britain next month because of security issues.
Hapoel Tel Aviv censured the game abandonment, alleging Israeli police of "gearing up for a battle, rather than a game", even during discussions in the build-up to the much-expected fixture.
"The alarming situations outside the arena and due to the ill-considered and scandalous ruling to abandon the fixture only show that the Israel Police has assumed command over the football," Hapoel Tel Aviv announced publicly.
The other team has remained silent, only acknowledging the match was cancelled.
The judgment by security authorities to ban club followers from the English fixture on 6 November has triggered widespread criticism.
The government officials has subsequently stated it is working to overturn the prohibition and considering what further support might be necessary to guarantee the game can be hosted safely.
The English club notified their matchday stewards that they could choose not to participate at the fixture, saying they acknowledged that some "could be worried".
On earlier in the week, local authorities stated it supported the prohibition and categorized the game as "high risk" based on reports and previous incidents.
That encompassed "serious fights and discrimination incidents" between Ajax and their supporters ahead of a game in Amsterdam in the previous year, when numerous persons were taken into custody.
There have been protests at several games concerning the conflict in Gaza, including when Israel faced the Scandinavian team and the European team in latest football World Cup qualifiers.
