Palestinian-American Adolescent Liberated After 270 Days in Israel's Detention

A Palestinian-American teenager having endured nine months in imprisonment by Israel without being charged has been freed.

Mohammed Ibrahim was fifteen years old during his detention last February in the Israeli-occupied West Bank, during a family visit on holiday from Florida for allegedly throwing stones at Jewish settlers, allegations he repeatedly contested.

United States authorities said it welcomed Mohammed's liberation.

Currently aged sixteen, required hospitalization upon gaining freedom, family members reported.

Family described him as pale, underweight, while battling health issues developed during imprisonment.

Through an official statement, the youth's uncle spoke of the family's "immense relief".

The uncle, Zeyad Kadur stated the family experienced "surviving a terrible, unending nightmare" over the last nine months.

"Currently, we're concentrating on ensuring Mohammed receives prompt healthcare necessary for his recovery following exposure to Israel's abuse and cruel circumstances for months."

American authorities announced ongoing to offer diplomatic assistance to the teenager's relatives.

{"US government authorities considers paramount to the protection and welfare of American nationals"," it added.

A group of American legislators had signed a letter to diplomatic officials and the White House, urging greater action to release him.

Mohammed's parent, a father-of-four operating an ice cream shop based in Tampa, previously said Mohammed acknowledged allegations to throwing stones because the soldiers beat him.

He had not seen or spoken to Mohammed following the detention, learning information solely about his son's condition in detention through court documents.

Mohammed was held absent formal charges at Ofer detention facility throughout the occupied territory.

It is also home to adult prisoners, some of whom have been convicted regarding severe security violations and murder.

There are around 350 Palestinian minors in security custody being held in Israeli jails, per correctional service statistics.

Numerous remain uncharged while advocacy organizations, as well as the United Nations, document cases involving mistreatment and torture.

Following Mohammed's release, the uncle stated they would maintain their efforts for justice for his cousin their cousin Sayfollah.

This young American-Palestinian per medical officials died from beating by settlement residents following tensions in July.

Initially, military authorities reported authorities were looking into information regarding a civilian had been killed.

Mohammed and Sayfollah were employed together in the family ice cream shop in Tampa, Florida.

No indictments occurred with Sayfollah's killing.

"We demand the American government to safeguard our relatives," Mr Kadur said.
