Hulu is Developing a Far Cry TV Series from the Producers of Alien: Earth and the Comedy Hit.
The most recent action-packed title that audiences experienced was Far Cry 6, which featured Giancarlo Esposito in the role of the bad guy, Antón, and was released on October 6, 2021. As a series, it is famous for delighting in chaos and mayhem with similar enthusiasm, all while telling gripping, socially charged tales. It’s no surprise that FX's new order for a Far Cry seasonal program brought on board two producers whose work have represented all of those things.
Show Details
Based on Ubisoft's successful video game property, the self-contained anthology series is set to premiere on Hulu and is being made by FX Productions. The series will also follow the video games' style by having a different location and group of personalities in every instalment.
Executive Team
Rob Mac, creator of It's Always Sunny in Philadelphia, and Noah Hawley, the visionary behind FX's Alien: Earth and Fargo, will work as executive producers on the series through their companies, More Better Productions for Mac, and 26 Keys for Hawley. They will be joined by Emilia Serrano for 26 Keys, Nick Frenkel for 3 Arts, Jackie Cohn for More Better Productions, John Campisi, Gerard Guillemot, Margaret Boykin, and Austin Dill for Ubisoft Film & Television.
“FX has had outstanding partnerships with Rob Mac and Noah Hawley for a collective six series and 32 seasons of television, and we are overjoyed that they are teaming up for Far Cry,” stated Nick Grad, President, FX Entertainment, in a announcement. “I have no doubt that they will present this story in a way that is fresh, gripping, and incredibly entertaining. We also want to thank our collaborators at Ubisoft for entrusting us with this beloved property.”
What’s Next
Mac will also feature in the show, but at the time of writing, we are unsure of what part that may be. Hawley's Alien: Earth was just approved for more episodes, with FX and Disney finalizing a new overall deal with the creator.
“Being able to collaborate together with Noah Hawley is a fantasy come true,” said Rob Mac. “Ubisoft has been incredibly supportive, placing faith in us with one of the most renowned video-game realms ever created. And throughout this process, my FX family always encourages me with their constant belief and support.”
“The aspect I admire about the Far Cry game collection is that it’s an anthology series. Every instalment is a take of a concept, the same way every run of Fargo is a version on a theme,” explained Hawley. “To develop a big action show that can change from season to season, while always exploring the nature of humanity through this complex and turbulent viewpoint, is a ultimate goal. I’m eager to work with Rob and bring our shared unconventional, ambitious style to the audience.”
A release window for when we can expect the new Far Cry show has not yet been revealed. The series will be available on Hulu in the United States and on Disney Plus in other regions.
