Eulogies Pour In for Rob and Michele Reiner as Medical Examiner's Findings Are Sealed.
More than two weeks after the tragic deaths of renowned film director Rob Reiner and his wife, photographer Michele Reiner, peers and loved ones are still paying respects to the couple.
‘Life is Pain Without You’: Cary Elwes Recalls His Director
Writing on Instagram, actor Cary Elwes, who rose to fame in Reiner's 1987 classic *The Princess Bride*, stated he only now felt able to express about his profound loss.
"Adequate time has elapsed that I can now put my grief into words," shared Elwes, saying that his initial encounter with Reiner created an instant bond. "When we commenced passing more hours together I realized this was someone I longed to have in my life."
The actor shared behind-the-scenes footage from the movie, remarking that he doesn't recollect "any day without laughter".
"The film is about affection, allegiance and giving. Values that Rob valued immensely. Which is among the many reasons he was the ideal person to guide it," Elwes wrote.
He went on to praise Michele Reiner, saying: "Claiming that they were a great team would be an understatement. My heart still aches every time I remember you." He ended with a phrase from *The Princess Bride*: "Indeed, death cannot stop true love but life is pain without you."
Martin Scorsese Recalls a Fellow Artist
In a different piece, revered director Martin Scorsese shared memories of Reiner, whom he initially encountered in the 1970s.
"Right away, I loved spending time with Rob. We had a innate rapport for each other. He was very funny and sometimes sharply witty, but he was never the kind of guy who would command the room," Scorsese shared.
Scorsese highlighted Reiner's supporting role in his 2013 film *The Wolf of Wall Street*, portraying the father of the lead role.
"He could improvise with the best. He was a master at comedy, he worked seamlessly with his co-stars, and he understood the emotional dilemma of his character," Scorsese noted.
Court Proceedings: Autopsy Reports Restricted
This week, a Los Angeles judge decided to prevent the release of the Reiners' medical examiner's reports, following a petition from the Los Angeles Police Department.
A judicial mandate put a security hold on the files to limit the public release of "any investigative information, notes, reports or photos" connected to the active case.
The coroner's office had already determined their deaths were the consequence of homicide, with a public database citing the cause as "wounds from an edged weapon".
