Critical Role Campaign 4 Reveals the Soldiers Table

Since the launch of the fourth campaign, recently appointed game master Brennan Lee Mulligan has kept fans guessing with deep backstory, a wide array of heroes, and a exciting storyline showcasing celestial beings, evil spirits, and malevolent powers increasing in influence within the city.

Warning: Revealing details for the latest installment of this adventure follow below.

The Soldiers Table Introduced

The third episode concluded with a major cliffhanger and introduced the initial group of characters who will split off from the primary party to undertake their independent quest, separate from the remaining groups.

The combat-focused team consists of Teor (played by the voice actor), the nimble rogue (the talented performer), the fierce warrior (the cast member), the cleric (Sam), and Kattigan (the actor).

Dividing the Cast

Considering an extensive roster, it was obvious from the beginning that keeping everyone at the same party would be unworkable.

That’s why, the initial installments of the new season serve as an Introduction, intertwining the personal journeys before branching into three smaller tables: Warriors, Strategists, and Seekers.

The Nature of the Combat Party

According to the Dungeon Master, the warrior group is for adventurers who enjoy a classically intense combat and conflict-driven gameplay experience where peaceful solutions are few and far between.

At first glance, figures such as the squeamish cleric the cleric might seem out of place, but the actions of the latest installment show why these specific adventurers are best suited for the warrior group.

Why They Must Go

For one thing, the group has a clear idea where to go next after a violent opening clash with the enemy group.

An old friend of the deceased character—whose demise kicked off the narrative’s action—used the foes for his personal gain, entering the hidden lair, attacking Thimble, and taking all the enchanted items to auction.

The antagonist then cleared his debts and fled to a secure base in Gormalay, Timmony, beyond the urban center, with Cyd hot on his heels.

Personal Motivations

Secondly, each character has a personal reason to exit Dol-Makjar:

  • The agile hero, as the companion and trusted friend, wants revenge.
  • The knowledgeable figure knows the northern area and advises that it is a dangerous environment.
  • Tyranny and The cleric, having defied his house’s orders to kill the fighter and instead freed him, have no safe haven.
  • But, their reputation as key figures in the influential clan could assist the group enter locations they usually can’t.
  • Furthermore, Teor vowed a life debt to The savior for his salvation and will now go with him wherever.

Fugitives

In addition, all of them are hunted by the powers that control Dol-Makjar for a range of causes, making lingering locally too risky:

  • Thimble and The character are known criminals.
  • Tyranny and The cleric defied the powerful family and the horde of evil beings they are partnered with.
  • The fighter is wanted dead by House Halovar.

This leaves them few options but to travel to the remote area in search of Casimir.

Future Episodes

Based on the latest episode’s follow-up content, we learn that the Soldiers table will not appear in the upcoming installment, leaving the other eight participants to form the Questers and Schemers parties.

Fans can expect learning which players will be in which group in Campaign 4’s concluding setup installment, streaming live on next week.
