Colts Take On Atlanta Falcons in Berlin – Week 10 NFL Action
Guten tag, fussball fans. Wie gehts? Alles klar I hope on this fine morning kickoff to the tenth week coming directly from Germany. The Olympiastadion in Berlin to be precise where at 9:30 AM EST and 2:30 PM GMT the mighty Indianapolis Colts (7-2) face off against the Falcons (3-5). This marks the fifth matchup played on German soil and the initial in the nation’s capital.
Pre-match Key Moments
As sparkly jackets go that is an absolute belter from the Olympic figure skater on the coin toss. A minor slip from the broadcast team there as we hear “who won the toss?” from the commentator with an accidentally live microphone.
Well, the coin toss went to Indianapolis and have chosen to get the ball first. The Colts' offense will be taking the field soon. Will the QB bounce back after a rough one in Pittsburgh?
In a similar vein the singer belting out the Star Spangled Banner has some of the largest shoulder pads you are bound to notice. Loving the sartorial choices today. We are almost underway after a choir performance for the national anthem of Germany. Elegant.
Opening Period Gameplay
Colts 0-0 Falcons 13:30, 1st quarter
And we're off! And we have an exciting start after Jonathan Taylor receives a short throw, sweeps out for 15 yards to the right side then loses the ball … only for his offensive lineman to save his bacon with the recovery. Indianapolis quickly moves into Atlanta's half.
Colts 0-0 Falcons 10:51, 1st quarter
And the drama keeps coming as the Indianapolis attempts a fourth-down conversion. The risk doesn't work out as the wide receiver cannot reel in a quick pass from the quarterback. Prior to the failed attempt the Falcons defender put a massive tackle on tight end Mo Alie-Cox. The Falcons have come out fighting on defense as they attempt to end their three-game losing streak. Next up Sauce Garner’s debut!
Touchdown Recap
TOUCHDOWN! Colts 6-0 Falcons 8:36, 1st quarter
Was that a missed touchdown by Kyle Pitts? The tight end drops a clanger, he was very open but the ball just slips through his grasp. That play rather sums up the first round pick’s career to date.
So far, so disappointing but it only deteriorates for the Falcons as they turn over possession to the Colts on the 23-yard line. Michael Penix Jr is hunted down and fumbles the football.
An agile 22-yard rush from the Colts receiver sets the running back up to easily run for a touchdown on the next snap. Kicker Michael Badgley misses the point after attempt. Mistake.
Falcons respond: 6-7 at 6:07
The quarterback recovers from the turnover by marching his Falcons down the field for a touchdown. Drake London makes some substantial catches to put them in the scoring area then the seas part for the running back to run untouched into the end zone through the middle of the defense for 13 yards. He completes the drive for a one-yard touchdown of his own. The Falcons take the lead.
